How many holes is too many holes?

We're talking inserts. I'm thinking of putting my Meidjo 3.0 onto my Atomic Maverick 86 that are already mounted for Transit. I'll have to move the Meidjo back about an inch from the recommended boot center but I've done that on other skis and I'm not a good enough skier to tell any difference. I'm only ever going to use the Atomics at a resort and prefer a releasable binding at a resort. Plus, the Meidjo has brakes whereas the Transit does not and I'd much prefer to use brakes over leashes. I also like the step in feature of the Meidjo though I find their use for touring to be overly complicated.

The Transit is 8 holes for the binding plus 2 for the heel. The Meidjo is 10 for the binding and 3 for the heel. That's a lot of holes. Is that too many holes? It doesn't look like any of the holes are closer than 3/8" or so, center to center. I can make a binding plate but I'd prefer to mount them flat. Oh, and the Mavericks have a metal reinforcing sheet in the mounting zone. Thoughts?

I have a pair of skis that currently have inserts for 22D and Meidjo that I use in bumps, so a significant amount of stress. I probably have 70+ days on them and have no concern that they will cause failure. On top of the ski, I'd expect compression forces, so I doubt inserts are a problem.

Then time to drill, baby, drill!

So are you saying you like the Meidjo in bumps? With what skis?

Going back and forth hasn't worked well for me. It takes several runs to get used to each of them, after I've skied with the other.
I did enjoy skiing the Meidjo in all conditions. After getting used to the Outlaw X, I'm used to that now. But yes, I liked them both in the bumps. I'll ski bumps on just about anything. Right now, I'm on the Dynastar M-Cross 88 for general duty, and normal bumps, and the Rossi EXP 85 for cut up frozen bumps. On powder over bumps, I like the Rustler 10. My powder days are reduced now, due to optic nerve damage which really hurts my depth perception - so bumps only on sunny days, now. Next season, I may get the newest version of the Rustler 9, as I really do love that ski.
I'll get 70-80 days in per season, and once bumps start forming, I'll average 5 or 6 bump runs per day. My groomers are mostly for going from bump run to bump run. On cloudy days, though, I'm strictly on the groomers.
