can someone school me on Fischer Outbounds?

found a pair of older Fischer "outbound" model skiis for sale locally, for a really low price.
are they worth picking up?

I get lost in all of the permutations of Fischer "outbound" variation model skiis. ;-/

What are these particular model designed for? what are the characteristics/attributes/strong suit of this ski?
Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you.

If these are more xcD oriented, I might be interested in trying them.
(i dont do a lot of xcD, and dont have any skiis currently that are design for that niche)
These are shorter than I normally ski at 180cm-182cm (Seller says they are 72" long...)
I am 86kg 5'10"

I had a pair of Outbounds, they climbed like crap and didn't want to turn either, and they were on the short side too.

More of an xc ski than xcD; they don't like to turn, but move along nicely on the flats (assuming the right length/camber for you).

I picked up those skis from the REI Closeout Corner where they sell returned stuff at a discount. The tag on the skis said the reason for returning was that they didn't climb. I thought maybe the guy didn't know how to ski, but at any rate he was right. I think they had a negative scale pattern where the scales are cut into the base below the ski edges. On the downhill, they were so stiff I couldn't get the belly of the ski down and it's hard to ski on your tips and tails.

The Fischer Outtabounds was the original design that became the S-Bound "88" and then the Excusion "88".

My old friend has every generation of this ski- in both wax and crown/scale versions-
the only difference I see in the current model is the slightly rockered shovel and the Easy-Skin insert.

This is a great backcountry XCd Nordic touring ski- efficient over an incredibly wide scale of snow conditions- including both hardpack and deep soft snow.

The equivalent model in the old Karhu-Quebec line was the widest design of the "10th mountain tour"→ 88-68-78- with lenghts to 210cm! I own an emaculate 180 Karhu 10-mtn-tr- solid wood core- still have my eye out for a 210...

Cheap and in decent shape? Get em. Old crappy crown scales- who cares- grip wax it.
