I once fell flat forward spring skiing and the tip om my wide ski hit exactly the middle of my little guy. It hurt quite lot, and I am happy for wearing ski trousers and underpants as there were no obvious damage to him. I am not sure if I'd ski naked anywhere, but would in case check ski length for risk of damage. ;-)

I tried skiing Xplore with the flat plate this week and very much prefer the normal flex for XC skiing with kick and glide, as the rear ski got an extra vibration and noise that the normal flex removes, without giving any obvious benefit that I felt. I did not ski the free plate for any descents so hats of to Tom M for trying, but I prefer the hard flex over the normal flex for that anyway. For steeper ascents on skins I would use the flat plate, and for prolonged descents I'd switch to the hard flex, but I don't care to change them for shorter ascents or descents. I find the hard flex is too resistive to be comfortable for XC or any ascents, but it might work for slow skiing on flats with short strokes. I still wonder if a hypothetical medium flex would work best for skiing rolling terrain.
