I'm considering the Kom, but while at the local shop today the sales guy said it didn't have enough side cut, a big turning radius and was heavy. He pushed me towards the Rossi XP 120 Positrack. He said he's skied both. Man this ski is light. Gotta think it will get kicked around. @Woodserson obviously is not impressed .
Any thoughts? Experience on the Rossi?
This guy is an idiot. New this year, KOMS are lighter than before, and nobody makes a bigger tip to save you from yourself.
Yeah, it hurts my brain too much to figure out if I was trying to be being ironic or quite literal. Indeed those were Guides/M78 and now I ski Koms on that kind of slope, and while I may face-plant less, I still face-plant!
Meanwhile, I agree with @Woodserson that I doubt the xp120 will turn any better than koms. I'm also a little skeptical of the weight too as I've seen some inconsistent specs for the 120, but it also is narrower, and if at all lighter, I doubt any more robust or capable than the kom
Rossi has good stuff in the cross country and alpine department. Regarding Nordic skis, they prove themselves to be opportunist — taking their old skis and turning them into new planks (just look at the Seek 7 development; you'll understand). For me, on of the worst series was that BC series from a couple of years ago (wood and red). I had the BC 90; wow, watch a piece of garbage... (I also know that some like it and that's ok with me, not judging them).
I think some sellers are pushing the Rossi thing because of advantageous business agreement...
Sorry but for me, Rossi, in the Nordic skiing field, doesn't exist anymore...

So did anyone get on the Rossignol XP 120 last season? Reviews are scarce.
The dimensions are certainly attractive to me (120-90-110), a little more girth than an Objective/Endeavor, but less than an Ultravector. I know that people weren't real fond of the old BC 125, but the XP 120 is apparently a different ski. I know a guy who skis the 2021-ish non-scaled BC 120 with leathers & 3-pin cables, and he rips. I assume the XP is more like that ski.
I checked the Rossignol site, the XP 120 is gone. They probably didn’t sell any, especially at $479 when you can get the Altai Kom for $429. I did see Onion Sports had them on “Sale”, original price $469 on sale for $479 LOL, maybe it was the flood they suffered. No reviews to be found anywhere speaks volumes. None listed on EBay, although there are 2 100’s. I bet skiers looked at them and went straight for the BlackOps with a skin. Hmmm, I think I have some Alpineer’s in my storage….
Free Heeler - As in Free Spirit and Free Beer. No $700 pass! No plastic boots! And No Fkn Merlot!
I was told that Rossignol had production problems last year still relating to the pandemic, and that very few XP 120's made it to the US in time for ski-buying season. But right now it appears that a bunch of the bigger online ski retailers have them in stock.
I don't think it's remotely a situation where they've been discontinued for lack of interest. The lack of mentions is more related to the fact that few people have had the opportunity to get on them so far. I was hoping some folks here had, given the passion for scaled skis.
