Anyway I started using it the other day and I figured this was going to be an issue, and I didn't quite have a solution for it but I just said... eh fokket... anyway, here in NY we use literally tons of rock salt to keep our roads from icing up (and despite this people still drive 15 mph and crash every 5 min)... and well if you know anything about rock salt, it, mixed with water causes steel to rust and when you drive, your vehicle gets covered with it. I've had my skis on my rack since Thursday and I've kept them on because I've been using them... well today it jumped just above freezing and when that happens rust forms instantly. My edges, even on my new skis look like shit.
Anyway I'd like to clean them up and I don't want to go through the whole file/stone thing... I'm thinking just a scotchbrite pad or maybe even some steel wool? I did a Google search and there are tons of subjects and responses to this but most recommended using a gummi stone.
Also is there anything I can put on the skis to keep them from rusting in transit?
