Help: Metal edge repair failed!

Hi,
One of the metal edges on my Fischer S-bound 98 skis split, likely from some type of impact. I didn't know what to do about, so I let it be. Awhile later, the problem got worse, as a section of the edge got pried off:
Not wanting the problem to worsen, I looked online for help and came upon this fix:

I completed the fix, as described. I'm not sure what went wrong (perhaps the epoxy didn't cure enough), but the whole section of base I had cut away in order to screw down the edge got torn away during my next ski outing, making the problem even worse!:
It looks horrible, has exposed the wood core, and I'm concerned that the edges will just continue to peal off till there's none left at all.
Any suggestions on how to salvage this?

I think you're best off finding a new pair from the Time+Money stand point. You'd have to basically re-manufacture the ski to get the edge to hold, and now that the wood is exposed, it can absorb moisture and swell. If, IF, you can get new edge, you'd have to pull all and re-apply and bond to the ski, and redo the base (p-tex), and impart grain/fishscale...
I'd see if you can buy the exact same Fischer S-bound 98 pair and run them. If you rip an edge on one, use the good-used other of similar wear. Might also be able to find a used pair.
Edges are for control, and the loss of it could lead to bodily injury which can be exponentially more expensive.

That ski is well beyond repair.
It's a long shot, but you might try emailing or calling Fischer Skis in the US, or a Canadian Fischer dealer, and see if they have a single ski, maybe from a prior warranty replacement, they might sell you cheap.

Thanks for the responses. I feared as much. The guys at my local shop didn't want to touch it.
Just curious, how common is this type of damage to an edge?

My buddy did it to 3 sets of skis in a row 30 years ago on alpine gear. He was the best skier of the 3 of us, but we were all pretty good. He was always on his skis, and every edge he ripped out was under the center of his boot. I don’t remember if every edge got ripped out in the Upper Peninsula, but I bet a couple were. That old rock up there doesn’t give!

I wouldn't be surprised if it was a rock that I hit, and my damage occurred just behind the boot. Since the damage is already done, I intend to keep these as my rock skis, for early and late season. I just need a repair that is good enough to get it by; I am under no illusion that it will be perfect.

Hey guys,
Just wanna show what the abuse of skis of minor quality through XCD can do. I skied down a road from a resort for 2500 of vertical feet and just at the end edging felt unusual. I tried to make telemark turns all the way down though I had to throw in parallel turns because the snow was so hard and sometimes icy. Skis are Salomon XADV 89 with 3pins and cables. Boots were Ski Marchs.
I’ll glue in the edge with epoxy. They will never be as strong as they were. For soft snow with an emphasis on XC they’ll do.

Noticeable is, the glued-in part of the edges doesn’t show teeth or anything that maximizes the surface to resist the forces of sliding over snow and ice. In combination with the scales the connection is not very strong. For a new pair of skis, this damage makes me look only onto manufacturers who build skis of high quality.

You’ll need to clean i glue the exposed wood first, then patch the base with P-Tex. For the edge, reattach it with epoxy and clamp it well to make sure it holds. If it looks too bad, a shop might be your best bet.
