Getting kinda overwhelming how many boot choices are becoming available in the Nordic world.
The Mountain teamed up with a 174 Kom would be interesting….

Altai has last year’s 75mm Alico on sale with a selection of most sizes. Any opinions on last years boot?
They do say in the linked article that rhis year’s women’s boot is lasted a little narrower in the heel and I tend to have narrow heels, especially my right heel. Maybe I should go with a women’s fit?

I wasn’t quite sure about the quality of last year’s model. If I was buying last year, I had more faith in the models being sold by Telemark Pyrenees. I personally would stay away from the PU coated entry level boot in Altai’s line this year. That’s just what I would spend my money on. If my Alaska 75 were to fail I would probably buy the green model of this year’s offerings. I don’t care for the color, but I believe the boot would give me years of service.
I’m pretty confident it would turn nicely with my ST cables. I would like to see a review of its kick and glide performance as I would still want good kick and glide performance in this class of boot. I have a British surplus Ski March, which is stiffer than optimal for k&g, but excellent downhill. I would definitely want better k&g in this boot.

"Maybe I should go with a women’s fit?"
Definitely worth a try if you have narrower feet.

You could try these, although I'm not sure if the forward-lean is adjustable:

Could you elaborate a little bit? What model is PU coated? What does PU coated mean and what are the problems with it? The one thing about the Altai site I like is they have pretty detailed descriptions of the products. The Tour model, the least expensive, softest flexing and lightest of the three boots has a split grain, not full grain, leather upper. It has a poly urethane coating instead of oil, wax or tanning methods of sealing the leather. It is leather, but a less expensive, maybe less durable and less breathable option. It is still leather and can last with care. I would prefer this over a synthetic boot for a light, distance oriented option.JB TELE wrote: ↑Thu Dec 14, 2023 10:53 pmCould you elaborate a little bit? I'm considering getting the BC version.
Currently I'm skiing a merrel ultra which has a tall, soft plastic reinforced cuff. It's super supportive and great for terrain where I make plenty of turns but not ideal for really mellow touring. Hoping to find something without a reinforced cuff for easier tours especially with the new transnordic 66 skis I picked up for this season.
