The French invasion

It seems my computer knows I've been associating with some Quebecois and now Facebook (oh the evilest of evils  ) is suggesting I say 'oui' to Quebec skiing:

PS This post has very little to do with skiing or the people of Quebec, but how good the advertising has become! It's absolutely invasive!

This, of course, is not a coincidence as I see it all the time with other things.

Do I have to enter the silly contest to come ski Quebec?

I have to make it to Lyon first. I rarely get North of Paul Smith's.

Plus if I go to Quebec, I really, really, really want to go the Chic-chocs! But it's soooooo far...

The backcountry skiing in the Chic-Chocs is second to none. My wife and I used to go backcountry skiing in the QC mountains a couple times per season. With our young family (youngest is 1 year)- we haven't been in a couple of seasons. The area gets a ridiculous amount of snowfall. Everything above 900m is above tree line. The terrain ranges from extreme to rolling saddles in between peaks. Beautiful forests, spectacular scenery. Wish we were going this winter...

We need a Ttalk endorsed Chic-choc field trip... any excuse for me to drive 14-15 hrs to ski that awesomeness.

Mike, you should be in charge and organize field trips for us, that would be awesome..!

You don't need an invitation to come ski over here. There's a nice bedroom and a fireplace waiting for you guys anytime you want...

I don't ski the Chic-Chocs... To me, it doesn't make any sense to drive more than 10 minutes to ski when there's fresh powder everywhere everyday here. Of course, the Chic-Chocs offer the best skiing east of the rockies, but it's way too hip and trendy for me. I'm more of a backyard guy... Still, let me know if you guys are going... 8-)

(Sorry for the AT content... ; )

Yes the Chic-chocs do seem a bit resort-(y) in some sense... but c'mon - great terrain, almost a guarantee of good snow, and beautiful scenery... I have to go at least once in my pitiful life.

The Adirondacks are my backyard (not really, I live 180 miles away but it's the closest I have) and I'll never ski half of what can be skied there in my lifetime. I'll never tire of them... but once in a great while I get the itch to go somewhere new...

Like the Chic-chocs... or the Schwarzwald :)
