Need Stiffer BC Boots.

So my girlfriend has been using Alpina 1550 BC boots for 2 seasons now. They seem to just not be stiff enough when we are off track. I think it doesn't help that they are NOS from eBay that I think sat on a shelf for a long time. A lot of foam upper has deteriorated.

Anyway, I'm looking around for something more backcountry focused.

Current skis are mounted with NNN BC but I'm not opposed to switching to 75mm.

What are some good boot options. I know Alpina Alaska's or maybe BCX5 or BCX6 boots?

I found a good deal on some Trak Polartek boots. I don't know anything about them but the upper cuff and some look pretty stiff.

Trak polar tek? Grey with yellow fastener? 80$ US? Et tu dis vouloir une botte stiff? Cours, cours, sauve-toi!

The T4 or Excursion will allow her to be a master of the terrain rather than be at it's mercy.

Thanks Rod,

Google translate works wonders. Too bad those Trak boots aren't what they appear to be. I'm glad you gave me a heads up before I jumped on them.

Al you may be right. I do love my T4s. They are just so much better when the snow it tough. Just gotta start looking for some 22 mondo Excursions or T4s.

Alpina Alaska are not cheap, but they are a well made, durable, and stiff boot. I bought a pair of Alaska 75 really cheap this past summer. I already had a pair of Alaska BC.
Nothing is cheap now. May not be anything cheap in summer either. However the Alaska BC will be durable, and it’s warm as well.

I agree with Al, but she will feel a mountain of difference between her Alpina 1550 boots and a pair of T4; she'll have to adapt of course. A good in between could be to get a stiff leather boots... In her size (very small) there's pretty good deals out there. But be aware that not all leather boots are equal. She could get a pair of Crispi Antartic, for exemple...

I saw those T4s are tempting. Still not sure if this warrants going to a plastic boot. If I did it would almost make sense to go with a new ski as well. Get a wider single canber ski with sidecut... What was that I said about trying to do this on the cheap haha.
