Old Trek Tele Skis
I was wondering if anyone on here has any experience with this sort of ski. They look like fun. I don't know much about trek skis. I skied on some short, fat trek bushwhackers when I was a teenager (they were terrible).

Re: Old Trek Tele Skis
for 80 bucks they're probably worth it, especially if they fill a hole in your quiver. I'd guess they have minimal sidecut like other skis from that era. I would be more interested in camber and flex.
The seller may even take less money because of the limited market for them, Play it Again Sports in Anchorage told me they won't take any skis with three pin bindings anymore.

They'll be straight, or close enough to it not to matter. Haven't skied that particular model, but as I recall that's an era when Trak were pretty low quality skis. The bindings are for the thinner soled boots of that vintage; I'd say they won't fit a plastic tele boot or a good Norwegian welted leather; if they do, I'd be very wary of binding ripout... especially considering the age. Personally, I'd say $80 bucks is high for that set up.

Re: Old Trek Tele Skis
I agree with the Phoenix--those are inexpensively made, low quality metal edged touring skis with little sidecut, and probably foam cores that have worn out their camber by now. Even if the skis were more like $25, which would be a lot for that ski, you're going to have to replace the bindings, either NNBC or a hd 3 pin, so another $75 bux at least.
Keep looking!

Thanks for the replies. Luckily my Fischers finally came, so the fever has abated a bit and I don't have to scour for deals anymore

I think Karhu bought Trak on something along the line (for the waxless pattern if my memory serves me right). I assume this pair of Trak is pre-Karhu.
I might also simply be creating some fake news, so beware.

Re: Old Trek Tele Skis
There was definitely some kind of affiliation there. My wife's Grandfather gave me a pair of ~early 2000's Karhu Metas that he used as a mountaineering approach ski-shoe. There's a blurb on the topsheet with something like "Karhu is a registered Trademark of Karhu Finland, used under license by Trak North America".
It's a cool ski for sliding around the denser bush. Seems like a precursor to the Altai Hok (the Altai guys came from Karhu, right?). Universal binding, 125 cm, permanent skin under foot.
