Re: Skiing with the Significant Other
She can ski there?!? Lucky you! Can't bring my girlfriend into anything (steeper?) than like 15 degrees... But that's cool, she doesn't really do downhill...
One day we were camping around Mount Whitney, highest peak in the US... Early may, not sure what was the temp, must have been around 20-25F... We thought it would be spring time over there... We didn't bring anything, no sleeping bags, no coats. Just a super cheap tent and a few t-shirts. (Stupid punks!) We weren't expecting temperature to drop that much during the night. Didn't sleep at all. She was not sure if she would make it through the night... She was freaking scared... It was too cold to cry... She bought a 300$ sleeping bag the day after.

Haha! No way! I was talking about YOUR picture being wife friendly i.e. FLAT!LoveJohnny wrote:She can ski there?!? Lucky you! Can't bring my girlfriend into anything (steeper?) than like 15 degrees... But that's cool, she doesn't really do downhill...
That little bump my picture is a small mountain in the Adirondacks. She climbed it with snowshoes, no way with skis.
And 15°! Holy smokes! My wife wouldn't even consider 15° (well maybe for a couple vertical feet). That's like a blue run at a ski resort. No way... maybe 5°(that's like 10% grade, a fairly steep rd) and I'd have to push her.
If I can get her (and myself) up to 20° on XCD skis, I'll be a proud man.
Re: Skiing with the Significant Other
Guess what, I think she's ready to ski!

Is that a Penfield hoody? My first years were in Lima and summers @ Keuka Lake (50's). Learned xcd at Mendon Ponds and the Bristol Hills, never rode a lift until we moved out west. Leathers all the way.MikeK wrote:Guess what, I think she's ready to ski!
Does your wife know Ron? She surely wouldn't flip you off, would she?

Re: Skiing with the Significant Other
I'm sooo lucky.... Sorry for You all bros...
When we met I was nordic oriented, she was alpine (with some racing) oriented. After 10 year of alpine together, and other 10 on XC we now are XCD'ing more and more. Up to 25-30 degree on 46 mm underfoot and SNS skating (of course we use also heavier gear). She is still (and will ever be) better than me on snow. I'm so pleased to be on the second place!
