Took the rock skis out for the last ski of the season…

Now just have to wait for the snow to melt off and the trails to dry out for hiking season, hopefully before July!

Fall colors are here in Grand Lake, you have until the first week of October to enjoy before the first snow comes and knocks all the Aspen leaves off.

How nice and interesting!
Does that rainbow sit on the same plane as the field in the front?
The flowing river never stops and yet the water never stays the same.

Still a little early here in western UP, was very dry for the first half of summer. Will have to go back to this location on a day with sun in a week perhaps.

Just curious M, could you share your location? I know you Yooper’s are cautious about invasive trolls invading your peace and quiet. Sure is pretty.

Those pics are from Friday in an area known as The Trap Hills. Basically a large section of USFS about 30min east-southeast of Ontonagon, or 10min east-northeast of Bergland, that the North Country Trail goes through. Very rugged and remote. Basically from M64 about 10min north of Bergland the trail goes east to Rockland and there are great views, tons of elevation gain (for here), and, what's my favorite aspect, very very few people. They don't plow the 3 gravel roads that intersect that whole 35mile or so of trail, and it looked to me like some areas could be good for skiing--other areas not so much, either too dense of forest or dangerous bluffs/boulders. But getting to some of the skiiable spots may require some decent traverses.
