Re: How's the ROM in the Scott Excursion

I agree with the above posts. Only think to add is to mention that the plastic that the Excursions use is softer than the plastic used for the t4s so the Excursions flex in a more "natural" way

Re: Skiing squirrel ?

Wonder if that squirrel chills with river otters. They seem to really enjoy sliding around in the woods and down hills too

Re: Vector BC Binding Finding

...I didn't read the whole thread but I saw it mentioned that K&G doesn't matter that much with such a big ski anyway. I have to disagree, my wide skis, Charges BCs,112UF glide as good as any scaled ski I've had and my insanes glide as good as any waxed ski I've had. If people feel like they are sh...

Re: Vector BC Binding Finding

IMO, Excursions and 3-pin HWs may be a good option for the skiing you describe. Excursions because they are good for larger volume feet especially width and the 3-pin HWs because you can just ski with the 3-pins and add the HWs when downhills are more challenging. I use Excursions and SBs with my Ve...

Re: Newbie looking for the right advice and gear

Not much to add to the advice above. I'm in the UP and ski Vector BCs for skiing similar to what you describe. IMO, use the T2s for Bohemia and more challenging terrain but also keep the T4s for longer tours and less demanding terrain.

Re: Can big guys with bad knees tele?

Just a couple of quick thoughts: 1. Your skis are way too short especially for anything involving soft snow. 2. Bad knees and extra mass and tele seems like a bad idea especially considering that most tele bindings don't release in the case of a bad fall. 3. Have you considered an AT setup? I don't ...

Re: A Real Wood Heat Thread (No Robots Allowed)

We have a jotul 602 from the early 80s in a remote cabin in far northern michigan. It's my favorite stove due to its looks as well as it's function. Great design and based on my experience, it's very durable. Ours has the hotplate top so it works very well for cooking as well as heating. It does not...

Re: Wisdom for newbie

Those whitewoods boots are not great but do work ok. If your rear ski is wobbling around it means you are not balanced correctly and are not in a correct tele stance. Adjust your stance so that you pressure the rear ski more and you will gain control and confidence. Many alpine skiers tend to incorr...
