Re: Equipments impact on sport

Not that it matters, but I don’t wear a helmet XC or BC or XCD. Like you say, personal choice and I don’t see enough value in those cases to make it worth it, and prefer nothing on my head — don’t usually wear a hat. And, tbh, resort skiing, there is some degree of social conformity for me — other p...

Re: Equipments impact on sport

Regarding helmets. Last year my gf and I were helmet bullied at winsport in Calgary. A gaggle of teenaged Valley girls proceeded to chirp us for no helmets all through the lift line and throughout the whole lift ride and even as we prepared to ski down. It was maybe my second time bringing telemark...

Re: The Alberta XCD thread

Long shot but I'm looking to quickly demo gammes and/or nansens (195+) in the calgary area, have all sorts of gear to offer in exchange. I want these skis eventually to replace stuff I use currently in order to standardize my kicker skin system, and really want to be very sure about size. Thanks! M...

Re: Asnes skis on sale!

20% off is great, but i dont remember List Prices being north of 500 bills? Does this sale essentially offset the current pricing to last year's values? Plus, shipping costs seem to have increased from free or cheap, to become a significant part of total purchase cost. I have purchased skis from Ne...

Re: How do you even go uphill?...

sheep , lots of good advice posted for climbing. Quick summary of what sounded good to me: - Make sure you are putting 100% weight on each foot as you move forward (don’t shuffle your feet, with weight on both feet); - press your climbing foot firmly into the snow and hold all your weight on it; - ...

Re: Pinnah's Simple Kick Waxing For Touring

If you expect to start skiing when it was 10-15 degrees F (-12c to -9c) and expect a daily high just above freezing and temperatures dropping a little bit before stopping for the day, assuming it's a sunny day, what would be your overall kick waxing strategy? I recently purchased some transnordic 6...

Re: How do you even go uphill?...

I know there are these climbing skins but do I really need them for a 15 degree gradient that's just a couple of meters long? ... I thought the skins were for longer sustained climbing efforts; it's getting frustrating, because the terrain is up and down He knows about skins. [EDIT] fisheater , tha...

Re: ISO Xplore boot that is 'best' at downhill and available in USA (and possibly won't break the bank)

The REI / Alfa sale is still on, but maybe they don’t have your size?
If REI has any Xplore boots in your size, you can order and try on in-store and return within a year if they don’t work.
With a low volume, narrow (98 last) foot, you may have to do some work to get a good fit.
