Re: Downgrading for Downhill
Je ne parle pas français. The nuns would kill me for it (sorry Sister Joanne), but my french really sucks. They taught us french so we could recite prayers correctly. No practical conversational skills, just praying. I guess their gods only understand french!

Re: Downgrading for Downhill
I guess so...can't seem to recall though...huh...I was a good catholic schoolboy at the time, terrified of the french-Canadian nuns, so I was a little bit out of my element.

Re: Vector BC eludes my thinking
Very constructive. Thanks EDIT you'd be cool with 180cm Vectors and Excursions/T4's? Yes. My setup is 180 Vector BCs, Excursions and Switchbacks. Switch up the SBs for 3-pins if you are a less aggressive skier or plan to tour them more often than turn. I'm from your area and I really wish I had bee...

Re: Plea to Americans!!!
Even in the Whites we have this problem. The SKI trail from the Kangamangus Highway to the Greeley Ponds will get people boot packing up it, even though the HIKING trail is but 100 yards further up the road. It's a good way to get a beating. It's certainly a lost art, deference to skiers. We just d...

Re: Vector BC eludes my thinking
The Chargers are pretty cool. I think they are overkill myself though unless you ski where there's deep snow and real mountains. The scales will drag more than the Vectors. I feel like I get plenty of float on Vectors, and in 180 cm, they are pretty easy to turn in tight trees. I also think you woul...

Re: Wax/alpine ski suitable for pins at a ski area
Any old alpine skis would work IMO. Find some at a second hand shop, remove old bindings, mount 3-pins, wax and go! Agreed with Mike too: try the Outtabounds. The camber is pretty soft on those.

Re: Plea to Americans!!!
I suggest skiing where others don't if you want to avoid stupidity. I don't like sharing ski terrain with postholers, snowshoers, other skiers, other skiers' dogs, etc. Untracked snow complete with wildlife tracks and silence is one of the best parts of BC skiing IMO.

Re: Asnes USGI Combat Skis
Lots of yellow birch and some white here but that's it. Where I grew up in NH we had black birch in the forest. When you cut it, it smells of wintergreen. Very high BTU firewood.
