Re: TeleTandem!
Does anyone remember the 2 Amish guys who were tandem skiing at MRG back in 85 or 86?

Re: Update from the XCD Knights
Johnny, if only xc shoes are allowed than I don't think metal edge skis should be allowed either to keep it trully xc.

Re: Update from the XCD Knights
Maybe my boots aren't the ultras because they have no buckles. I've switched to my recent find of lace up asolos I hope they qualify.
So if I send in video of me skiing the vectors with leather and pins would the Knights reconsider? I'll need help with posting it though.

Re: Update from the XCD Knights
I think the grabbyness comes from the stiff camber combined with the scales but it's a mystery to me. I just know it makes it more challenging to ski well. Most of my experience has been with double camber so I guess there are better flexing xcd skis out there. My wife has a pair of alpina cross ter...

Re: What was your biggest help in learning telemark?
A tight stance makes it a lot easier to weight and edge both skis. If you are having a problem tipping over towards the inside of the turn, open up your stance for a wider base and better balance. The wider the stance the tighter it will be. When I do open turns sometimes my trailing boot toe is abo...

Re: Update from the XCD Knights
[quote="MikeK"]CR - I think you actually said it best a while back. Not sure where the quote is or if it was even on this forum, but you said something like the Karhu/Madshus skis were "more like obese XC skis" and the Voile skis were more like Alpine skis. I think there is more to it than design, l...

I would also like to point out the Taiga skis used by the trappers in the Siberian Taiga. They are really short, really wide and they use skins for traction. These guys definitely have the focus of going cross-country... literally hut to hut to cover large areas and check their traps. Skinny skis w...

Re: Frustrated at 75mm boot options
I think the stiff sole is the culprit. I hadn't gotten blisters in years in my merrils but after they got resoled it was bad. Same thing happened to my wife now she puts mole skin on before she goes out in her leather boots and doesn't have a problem. There is more involved that sole stiffness thoug...

Re: XCD Vacation: Where would you go?
Wow Mike, most guys would have to convince their wives to do something like that, you just have to convince yourself. I couldn't believe my wife agreed to move to Ak. but I think it had something to do with her lunatic ex husband. It would be great to take a whole year off if you were willing to go ...
