Does anyone remember the 2 Amish guys who were tandem skiing at MRG back in 85 or 86?

Johnny, if only xc shoes are allowed than I don't think metal edge skis should be allowed either to keep it trully xc.

I think the grabbyness comes from the stiff camber combined with the scales but it's a mystery to me. I just know it makes it more challenging to ski well. A tight stance makes it a lot easier to weight and edge both skis. If you are having a problem tipping over towards the inside of the turn, open up your stance for a wider base and better balance.
