Re: Update from the XCD Knights

Skiing 5 miles down a closed forest road to climb a 300' vert hill, then to ski down it, and then ski the 5 miles back out, is not going to sell merchandise. It's hard, it's slow, it's boring, it's takes presence of mind, and no one gets it. If it is 300 ft of good fun snow I'd do 10 laps and 10 mi...

Re: Telemark

I think what T-man is saying is that you can roll your ankles over while sidestepping and get the bindings to grab, preventing you from sliding back. It isn't something I do anymore but it sounds familiar.

Re: The Wood Ski Thread

I've got a pair of Bonna 1800s in a 210. They are an unmatched set from different years because I broke 2 of them but they still ski good. The wood skis were good climbers.

Re: Why I don't like skis >200cm

Mike, if I were climbing that hill I would be facing the other way and puting the tails of the skis up on that sidehill allowing me to point them uphill more without slipping back. Also I would take bigger steps especially with light skis.

Re: Update from the XCD Knights

There is no xcd if you don't have the means to propel yourself like kickwax or scalaes. You can ride the lift but without any kicking and gliding there is no xc. I could see myself back east, w/o natural snow, wearing "light" xcd gear to the resort using kick wax and getting some k&G skiing. It's be...

Re: OAC XCD Skis

I have become a fan of shorter skis but I think they are too short for an experienced skier looking dh fun. I do think they would be a lot more fun in the woods than a traditional xc ski, especially for a novice.

Johnny do you use kick wax to get to the goods or are you a fishscale guy?

Re: TeleTandem!

y the way Johnny, the box of my Merrell SuperComp have the mention XCD on it. If it's written on the box it has to be true!!! I knew the truth would come out, it's not what you are skiing but where you are skiing. If you can leave the skins shovel and beacan home it's xcd otherwise it's something e...

Re: Update from the XCD Knights

I think in light powder any weight xc shoe would work but you would have to ride the skis like a surf board. I don't think it would be the most fun combo though.

Re: TeleTandem!

BTW goggles are strictly for telemark or dh and look silly for xcd, IMO. :P
