Re: Wooden skis from the skies

Cortina used a blue color with a center stripe, this ski reminds me of it but it took me some searching to find some examples. Italian. It's not a perfect match, but things change from year to year. This is where the internet fails and old books would have the answer, but you need the books. https:/...

Re: Wooden skis from the skies

Hmmmm 1st: Really interesting and fascinating story. I really like how it all ties together! Like a good rug. 1a: Age... Those are the replaceable edge segments, where a skier could unscrew a broken edge and reinstall a new one. They must have a date when they started hitting the market. Find this o...

Re: Any info on the Rossignol OT 65 Positrack

I wouldn't say my MT51s are the skis I grab when going downhill. If I'm looking for a ski in this class for going down some hills I would probably grab my Fischer E-99's with some of that sweet rocker. The Rossi OT almost a compact geometry ski according to them, maxing out at 195cm... it's almost l...

Re: Black Crows Freebird + Tele. Real world experience?

The old generation, you can just see the plate by holding it to the light, it's slightly raised under the topsheet, to a degree that you can't feel it but can see it in the right light and squinting. It's triangle shaped on the ends. The new generation the mounting area is demarcated by a square for...

Re: Black Crows Freebird + Tele. Real world experience?

What generation Freebird? The earlier ones had a longer titanal plate that spanned the mounting zone, but the newer generations have the smaller outlined "squares" for the heel and toe pieces, to save precious little grams for the weenies. It's bullshit. I've written about this before: The Black Cro...

Re: Pictures, pictures and pictures!

Thanks to all-y'all for these great pics. I was watching some video the other day of some young famous Norwegian XC skier and it looks like some places are still grooming for skate and K&G this late into the year... is this common? Even if we have snow many places around here just give up in late Ap...
