Re: The new Rottefella XPLORE OFFTRACK Binding System Review

https://youtu.be/uA6fyXZQAy8 Excellent video Tom- thank you! After watching Tom's detailed exploration of the Xplore binding- I am left feeling very cautious about the durability and utility of this design... Does anyone else see all kinds of thingies on this binding that are going to freeze solid?...

Re: Some of you said Gammes don't turn, but...

mikael.oh Thank you for sharing this with us! I can feel your excitement and joy! Your downhill experience with the Gamme 54 is very helpful and actually helps me with some of my deliberations in recent years regarding a downhill-focused BC-XC setup. For example- except in perfect conditions- I am ...

Re: The reason for the tele turn?

+1 on Paul Parker's book "Freeheel Skiing"- pure excellence, free of any obsession around the telemark turn. colbymck Sweet turns in that photo! I love where I live, but it sure would be sweet to climb up into snow at this time of year! As far as my backcountry Nordic touring- the telemark is one of...

Re: Boot Review- Long-Term Test- Alaska BC-Guard BC-Svartisen BC

I'm a 47 and I think 48 and up is more difficult to buy? Alaska comes in a 48. I’m hopeful the new boots will keep all the positives, while adding some additional stiffness for edge control. Are you speaking of the Xplore version of the Guide? Yes -- but getting the impression that may not be the c...

Re: Boot Review- Long-Term Test- Alaska BC-Guard BC-Svartisen BC

I am surprised that the Svart is less volume and width than the Alaska. I have quite low volume feet as it is, I couldn't go lower. I think that the width of the Svartisen and the Alaska are actually pretty close. The Alaska definitely is larger volume for its width than the Svartisen. I can get my...

Re: Boot Review- Long-Term Test- Alaska BC-Guard BC-Svartisen BC

I wish the Alaska was a tiny bit wider and I would own a pair. Size-up and install a thicker insole to take up boot volume. I’m hopeful the new boots will keep all the positives, while adding some additional stiffness for edge control. Are you speaking of the Xplore vesion of the Guard? Did you rea...

Re: Crusty

However, the rockered tips on my Ingstads are much stiffer and barely suffer from that issue, though I have heard they are still soft enough to be terrible in breakable crust. It is not that the tip-shovel of the Ingstad BC is too soft (as you state above the shovel-tip of the Ingstad is totally st...

Re: Wildly speculative talk about Asnes 21-22 lineup: Otto/FT62

Asnes' videos speak to me on a deep level-

PASSION, BEAUTY, JOY- as well as something ancient that is underneath- something that calls me to want to see what is on the other side of the horizon.
