Re: the Nordic Ice Skating Thread

mca80 In my eyes, your mount looks good, too. It is good to have 5+ cm’s blade behind your heel for balance in case you sway a little backwards somewhen. Again a ”ask how I know” thing ;) Well that is a convenience thing. And I like to have some blade in front of my binding for balance, when bumpin...

A local store guy said the Futura Pro is Svartisen with a XP sole basically. You could maybe check what reviews say about Svartisen uppers.

We have short Alta Hoks in my famiy. I agree that they are not skis really because they have very little glide.

Re: Telehiro and B-Tele Discussion

IMO, it might have been difficult to get started with b-tele on E99’s or Gammes. I learned b-tele first on 196 cm FTX’s and 173 cm Åsnes V12’s. The FTX’s and V12’s have similar dimensions and cambers. But when you have got a grasp pf b-tele dialed in, the technique seems easy on Gamme and E99 class ...

Re: Telehiro and B-Tele Discussion

I'm sure you probably mention it in your thread, but do you run full sized Gammes matched to your size and weight when skiing games for turns? My Gammes are sized according to Åsnes charts. I am 180 cm / 83 kg, and the 200 cm Gammes are for 180-190 cm / 80-95 kg. They have 50-55 cm long wax pockets...

Re: Telehiro and B-Tele Discussion

FYI I described first experiences of b-tele on Gammes.

Re: Learning to turn with Gammes

B-tele works on double cambers, too! After learning b-tele on other skis, already first turns on Gammes were of short radius. See photos below. FullSizeRender-compressed.jpeg IMG_5421-compressed.jpeg Especially contracting your legs (by down-unweighting) helped to turn the stiff and straight skis. N...

Re: Let's talk poles

Yoshinobu Welcome to this forum! Nice to have you here. In tele, what you do with your hands does not make much difference in my opinion. However, which direction your hands point indicates which direction your chest is pointing, and that does make a difference, for how your skis behave. Chest dire...

Re: Telehiro and B-Tele Discussion

Consider the video presented here: https://youtu.be/at9JBOvsxmY?si=6ZSdV4Wj4P0XTTPX TH and his student illustratively show the braking movements. On consolidated snow, braking is achieved by scrubbing the skis, but on powder, it involves "sinking" or "burying" the skis, to use TH's terminology. Ini...

Re: Telehiro and B-Tele Discussion

Now, let's discuss braking on powder snow. B-tele turns in powder […] lessen the dependence on wide skis. … Initially, TH taps the snow with his heels together, a recommended precursor to gain speed and maintain buoyancy. He then takes small, alternating sliding steps. … As TH advances the lead ski...

Re: the Nordic Ice Skating Thread

I would not want a fixed heel on Nordic skates; then I would bring my hockey skates as they have a much smaller turn radius. So far Xplore with the normal flexor is what feels best and I do not think I want a stiffer flexor, but I have not tried the hard flexor yet, nor any NNN-BC boot/binding. Com...
