Re: Carrying avy gear?
If the trip goes to easy terrain well clear of anything steeper than 30º, such as most of my tours in my local area, I only carry a shovel + maybe a probe if I want to measure snow depth. On the CZ side of the 3-country point here the biggest danger now are falling branches / trees... The bark beetl...

Re: What to do with an old pair of Voile Objectives
I hope you had the chance to dry out those skis properly?
Worth trying a repair with epoxy and let it cure for a long time, preferably at constant room temperature.

Re: Messing around in the Bohemian Forest and Eastern Alps
Very weird winter here in the Bohemian Forest... Very dry most of the time with plenty frost. Excellent for ice skating, ice kiting, ice sailing etc though: lately there was a race on the Lipno lake for DN ice boats with 38 participants! Together with a local buddy we've just now bought an old DN fo...

Re: Rant: Rottefella NNN/Universal JIG piece of JUNK
Thanks for the info! Now I'm happy for having bought several old Rottefella jigs from the times well before that "new" jig with all that plastic.
It would be nice to find a Voile jig for mounting Switchback & 3-pin hardwire bindings.

Re: How to maintain skis (s bound 98)
What about edge sharpening? I tried to sharpen the base edge of my Rossi BC100 (fishscales similar to Fischer's) to 0.5 degrees with a Kunzmann kombi tool and I was taking more material off the fishscales than doing any good to the base edges...  Sharpening the side edge (89 degrees) wa...

Re: Messing around in the Bohemian Forest and Eastern Alps
Finally some local ski hikes! :D First local one of this season last saturday, mainly on the forest roads between Schoeneben and the Hochficht. Old rock skis (Atomic ARC 195) and leather boots. Nice cold snow, higher up at least half a metre, but skiable everywhere right down to the parking at 890m....

The Sporten Freewalk is very similar to the one from Decathlon: Inovik BC500.

Re: Sbounds...leathers
Oh... :( so we're not the only ones then waiting for real winter to kick in... Even in the Alps there is not much snow yet and only quite high up. Here in the Bohemian Forest we've had a couple of dustings, for me not skiable yet. We'll see how it goes. Just over a week ago there was a very short sn...

Re: Messing around in the Bohemian Forest and Eastern Alps
G'day folks! Apologies for not posting more pix & trip reports. Will try to find time to put that right. Last ski hike of last "season" was in JuNe in the Alps: still nice enough above 2100m then but the melting was setting in very rapidly, nice but conditions to stay well away from anything steeper...

Re: PSA: milsurp Scarpa T4s
Interesting; shipping costs are only displayed after you've entered your e-mail address, delivery address etc. It would be nice if they would display the shipping costs up front like most other shops do ... No doubt shipping to Europe makes no sense. My old Scarpa T2 could do with a replacement
