Re: One ski to rule them all! A one ski quiver for all disciplines

I salute your Gamme endeavours OP! Now waiting impatiently to see you rock that on a proper topptur Thanks, and me too! It's just that there's been almost no snow anywhere close to Oslo so far. The only place it's snowing is Finse, and there it's been dumping every single day for months now with no...

Re: One ski to rule them all! A one ski quiver for all disciplines

I like the vibe of simplicity, don’t let the idiots get you down! You skied uphill in the video and immediately started skiing down, did you not need skins to go up? I recorded the whole 5km classic part and as the recording hit 30 minutes as I was reaching the top of the hill, the camera stopped r...

Re: One ski to rule them all! A one ski quiver for all disciplines

I just took the Gammes out on their first proper skate outing and they performed magnificently! I could probably sell my skate skis now if I wanted to and be happy just using the Gammes. That´s how good it felt! Conditions were perfect today. A Sunny -2 celcius so obviously I was out in Baywatch Mod...

Re: Considering the Gamme

there have been a number of mentions on TT recently regarding using the "herring-bone" technique to get up steep slopes- I don't believe in using the herring-bone technique- as a Nordic skier that is almost always on backcountry snow- the herring-bone technique is impractical, inefficient, and can ...

Re: Considering the Gamme

Second guessing my decision to get the 45 mm mohair skins...If I intend to use skins for grip wax replacement, or for days with variable temps, should I get the 30 mm instead? I do plan to climb steep terrain with these skis, so maybe better to have both? I'd say get both. Use the 30mm as short as ...

Re: Considering the Gamme

You don't have to wax if you don't want to. 30mm mohair x-skins make a good grip wax replacement. We have so little snow that I've only been using them on groomed tracks now but I'll get to deeper snow eventually. I've only been out maybe 5 or 6 times with the Gammes as classic skis and before that ...

Re: What does kick&glide actually mean for you, and do you use other techniques as well?

I ski the Gammes in 190, and that's also the correct size for my weight. What I meant is, I'm starting to develop a somewhat efficient double poling technique based around the limitations of BC skis with skins, i.e. don't get up on your toes as that slows you down, but instead create up and down mot...

What does kick&glide actually mean for you, and do you use other techniques as well?

When you do XC skiing, what are the techniques you use? What does your k&g look like? We have almost no snow so all I can do right now is ski on groomed tracks, and there I use all 3 traditional classic techniques with my Gammes. Even more so now that I shortened the skins to a bit in front of my he...

Re: Ski footage from 360 cameras

First of all, I loved mikael.oh's video. I've watched his video several times and shared it with others. I have to admit, I feel a little bit like David Bowie trying to follow the Queen performance at the Live Aid concert in 1985. None the less, here is my latest video. This was shot with my 360 ca...

Re: Chamonix stories from back in the day.

I started thinking about that time I set off a big avalanche and didn't even notice until after. It was one of the few times I skied le Tour, which in many ways is the most dangerous of the Chamonix lift systems even though the terrain is the mellowest There's a lot of grass there so the snow doesn'...
