Re: telemark binding with brakes and ski crampons
Lofoten and many other places in northern, as well as southern Norway, are great for skiing. Many places are also quite spectacular. Freedoms are releasable, just like Freeride and Meidjo, but releasability is not in all directions and not as reliable as on alpine gear. Any other telemark binding mi...

Re: telemark binding with brakes and ski crampons
Meidjo can indeed use crampons and you need the adapter SimonO links to above. It is Dynafit crampon compatible, but due to the higher stack height of Meidjo InWild also has higher crampons: https://inwildoutdoor.com/en/products/telemark/accessories/crampons I have used Meidjo for several years, bot...

Re: Scarpa T4 shoelaces
I found the laces on the original Terminator inners to work well and used them. My original TX no-lace liners have also worked fine for me. My friend uses a liner corset lacer to avoid blisters with his no-lace liners. Just try with and without laces and select what works for you. If you get blister...

Re: XCD skis on hardpack at the resort
Snowboards have two independant attachments, unlike skis that in practice have one, but it is still a hazard in the lift or when carrying. Many ski resorts in Norway require leashes for snowboards attached to the front leg.

Re: Newb Question re: telemark bindings
Much good advice here, and I agree with Inspiredcapers. It is long since I tried a plastic boot in my Super Telemark bindings, but I immediately discarded that as a usable combination. Voile launched the Voile 201 3-pin binding for thinner duckbills: https://www.voile.com/voile-hd-mountaineer-3-pin-...

Re: Light gear does a good telemarker make?
Gear that matches the application, skill and preferences is the best, and proper training helps with anything. I don't think I would have the same skill on narrower skis and any backcountry/XCD tour, without doing lift served skiing on my heavy telemark gear and many many turns in varying conditions...

Re: Åsnes Rabb….nylon skin or klister?
Thanks for coming back with your experience, Jlars13 . I have the 58mm MIX kicker skins (65% mohair and 35% nylon) for my Falketind 62X, and they fit great with only 2mm edge on each side. My setup has had enough grip for tours up to ~27 degrees on firm snow (not ice). The skins also work well enoug...

Re: Non-rockered ski recommendations for resort and backcountry.
NATO comes in two versions. The NATO 62 that is similar to the current Ingstad and has rocker:

And the NATO BC that has no mention of rocker:

Re: Non-rockered ski recommendations for resort and backcountry.
I don't think that either of these are fun at skiing downhill in breakable crust. Nor is any other ski, really. I agree, but going stiff and heavy can work. Scarpa TX Pro, T2 or similar with a suitable binding and a wide and stiff ski can be fun in such conditions. Depending on skill and conditions...
