Re: BOOT BODGERY

Nice work! They'll be even more comfy if you cut the top half of that cuff/tongue down. The power strap doesn't do you as much good if you removed the lean lock. Do that, and you can swap out to shorter, lighter liners, like Intuition Denalis. If the webbing strap in place of the lower buckles ends ...

The old ones had that! It was a thin, stainless steel plate that mounted under the front of the binding and had a leash tab that stuck out/up in front of the binding.

If you end up feeling like it's too free pivoty, you can always buy the remaining parts to turn it into a TTS system.

Re: Tech Bindings/Boots for XC

When locked, the mechanism is significantly stronger than the screws holding power in the ski. There is a documented case of a skier dangling from one locked toepiece in a crevasse he fell into(his ski was bridging the opening).

If my nylons don't get a little faster as they wear in, I'm just going to replace the nylon with mohair or a mohair mix. You can buy a variety of skin material from these guys by the cm: http://skimo.co/skin-parts

Re: Tech Bindings/Boots for XC

@anorothar: I agree, with a second thought I realize that it probably would not work, since the force of the bumper will be directed at the direction to force the boot out of the binding backwards. Regular tele binding cables creates a force in the opposite direction stabilizing the boot forward. U...

Re: Tech Bindings/Boots for XC

@anorothar: Since you been trying AT toes a lot, do you think that a 2-pin AT toe with some sort of bumper would work as an alternative to NNN-BC and 3pin 75mm? Especially as a lightweight downhill alternative. I think it could work with a bumper for an nnnbc replacement. It would be difficult to g...

I'm not using them with 3 pin, merak. I'm using just the AT toe pieces.

Re: Tech Bindings/Boots for XC

I absolutely agree that bumpers provide the following benefits: -levels out the ski when skating, sidestepping or herringboning -encourages good form(keeping the toes flat on the ski through the grip phase) -makes it easier to bring the ski back forward more quickly -keeps the tip of the ski in the ...

Re: Tech Bindings/Boots for XC

Some input to this discussion. I have some feedback from Rottefella: ...... Hi Gareth, Your understanding is correct. When you go downhills, the flexor makes the binding stable and you get better balance. When you walk, it gives you resistance that feels comfortable, and makes it easier to bring th...
