Trash can Tele’s

Post by Krummholz » Thu Feb 09, 2023 8:32 pm

So I noticed these skis sticking out of the trash and it was the Targas that caught my attention…. Hung a U and scooped them up. Just looked up the skis - Dynastar Trouble Makers 165
What I don’t understand is Tele bindings on a Park ski ??? Anyone have a guess why someone would do this. I was thinking I could try them on piste..

Because that was the ski they had or found? Really though, how much different could it be from my WorkStinx with red Targas? BTW, nice find!!!

@Krummholz Park ski= cool graphics and soft. Should be easy to bend in a two footed turn, however at 165 cm I would think they would be better suited for a lighter skier.
Besides tele is still cool at the park!

Hey Krumm, look at youtube... You'll find many kids teleing at the park... From what I know, it makes landing smoother (than on Alpine). That's part of the (few?) advantages...

I have this mental picture of a Grand County hostel-dwelling knuckledragger thinking to himself "no more of this tele bu**s*** for me, way too hard, never can get down that Mary Jane run, back to my snowboard, duh" and tossing em in the trash for you to find.
I think it would make a fun all mountain easy turning ski. Good score!

Yes, tele in the park was/is a thing, and yes, the skis would be kinda short for you. I had a similar experience; grabbed a pair of Atomic twin tips, 160's, in a free pile somewhere. Put some 3 pins on them, and used them for messing around in the woods, and they became a klister ski for a while too.
Gotta say, short and funky as they were, they were super nimble and easy to ski in the woods, and made for some fun skiing.

OK, y’all convinced me to keep them and give them a try over at WP. Watch out punks! This geezer is gonna skin up and tear up this green run on these short Tele’s!

Actuality when I first learned to ski I think it was on 165, then 180 for first pair I bought.

Even if the skis are awful and too short, the binders are nice enough to transplant to something better.
