Re: Merrell Ultra boots
Aventure Nordique also has Andrew Rifugio in stock which is pretty much the same as the old Ultra. these are the best quality boots I've seen. You could return them for the next size up or down if necessary

Re: Merrell Ultra boots
Fisheater thanks for the offer but if I pay $300 for a pr of boots they need to fit or be very close with minimal stretching if needed. I have 2pr of Asolo Extremes that fit like a glove so I'm good for a bit.

I’m talking $50, if you are in Michigan sometime. There is also a possibility that I may ski East this season. The Alico Ski March is a bit heavier than what you have. The sole is probably the same stiff sole as an Alico Double. It has a quality Amfibio leather upper, Thinsulite insulation. It is an ankle high boot for range of motion, with a stiff sole that offers considerable power transfer to the ski.

Take a look for yourself. Generally if they fit, you’ll find a spot in your quiver for them. I like mine. Best of luck, I did see the Rifugios on Adventure Nordique, it is a really nice boot.

Re: Merrell Ultra boots
Uhhhh love Ultras......my foot size is 9 and a half but would use Ultras in the ten range and do little kiddie thinger....Thick wool socks.....Ultras are awesome!!!!!! Total flex....soft ohhhhhhh.....and if your in powder totally comfortable.....and the balls of your feet feel like they are skiing the snow unhinged....Soooooo good....Would get those Rufffiggio boots but for the first time in forever have three sets of lace up's....Gonna probably ski with one busted up North Rim (Andrews) and an old brown two buckle Rossi....If I go to a ski area....TM

Re: Merrell Ultra boots
everyone on this website should have a pair of Ski March's! You're talking about a boot that would cost $400 in a store if it was a regular commercial product. I think I paid $78 w/ international shipping.

Re: Merrell Ultra boots
Hey everyone, just want to say what a great community! Learnt a ton on this forum, thank you for the knowledge!
My first post is a request for an ID and sizing info on a pair of Merrell’s I picked up. No other marking beyond the brand name and size, 11M. I’m assuming it’s an Ultra based on its stiff cuffs. 2lbs 15oz per boot.
Coming from a Crispi Antarctic in the same size, these feel quite loose. Insole is also 1/2” longer so just wondering if the 11 could be UK sizing on the Merrell’s?
They are not broken in so will they eventually soften and wrap around and give a snug fit? They are still very stiff. My Crispi’s felt super out of the box, very short break in. My cobbler said he could use a baseplate shim & leather heel patches to shrink the interior a a little.
I’m aiming for steeper hills this year and hope this is the boot can work for me.
Cheers!

Re: Merrell Ultra boots
Thanks for your encouragement greatgt, the enthusiasm is in line with what I felt when I first saw these boots!!! They will only see the backcountry!!
Ultras.. I feel the love… really want to keep them just want to make sure they’re sized well..
The insoles are about 305mm, there is about 3/4” (18mm) space between toe & top of a narrow insole, not exactly a performance fit. I might try something like an Ezeefit heel sock to see if it helps lock my foot in.
Thanks!

Re: Merrell Ultra boots
Strongly recommend the ezee fits. Have had 2 pairs of ultras, one of which I sold. Still have the first pair which have a hole in the inside liner from heel rub. Used to go the duct tape route, with mixed results, but ezee fit works much better. Use my snowfields mire than the ultras now,but still use the ezerfits.
