I need a waxless ski around 80mm.
Hi John,
Do you mean 80mm at the tip or underfoot?
I tried my neighbors t78 196cm for about 1 minute and it was positive. It seemed to float in heavy snow, glide, and turn like it should, but I can't help think that the E 88 is better for my bushwacking adventures.
I also wonder if the 199cm E88 would be to stiff for me since its rated for 190 lbs. plus, and I'm 160 lbs.
Hmmm...
the 199cm 88 will not be too long for you for BC XC skiing and climbing-
but it might be too long if you are wanting to pressure it into tight linked turns.
At 185lbs, I would want a shorter than 199 E88 if I was wanting to make tight turns with it- but, then again, if that was my pursuit I would reach for the Fischer 98 or 112.

Cross-country AND down-hill skiing in the backcountry.
Unashamed to be a "cross-country type" and love skiing down-hill.

By 80mm, I meant a class of ski, probably more like 70-80mm, that so many BC skis are in.

I see now that the T78 196cm is rated like the e88 189cm. I sort of knew that, but wanted to think it wasn't, and that I could rock the E88 199's. I'm so hesitant to go much under 200cm for a verstatile BC ski. On the other hand, I like my vintage E109 Tour 189cm, but maybe because they aren't rockered, so are fully supportive along that length.
