Resort skiing-- using uphill ski climbing policy to it's advantage now. It's come to needing the man-made.

Ouch... well... I may do a day of that this weekend... for training purposes.

Lotsa places make you buy a uphill ticket, or something like that. You can't ride lifts, but you can skin up certain sections.

Depends on the area-- most yes (uphill ticket, usually around 10$), Pat's Peak... NO.Cannatonic wrote:do you need a lift ticket?Woodserson wrote:Resort skiing-- using uphill ski climbing policy to it's advantage now. It's come to needing the man-made.

wow, thanks, Pat's seems extremely cool! Going at night is OK. You can even bring a dog - leashed during business hours! I just became a huge fan of this place. Would definitely buy some lunch at the base lodge or something.Woodserson wrote: Depends on the area-- most yes (uphill ticket, usually around 10$), Pat's Peak... NO.

So you take "Blast" to the summit - you needed skins with the Sbound 88's? You couldn't do it on scales alone? I'm going to have to try this!

Just go far skier's right/climber's left and head to the top, it makes sense when you get there. Definitely kick in a few bucks, they are a cool area and do a lot for local community skiers, especially kids! Very important, the demise of the local hill is such a travesty, and they buck this trend.
I needed to use my EZ Skins because it was finely ground loose granular, and like ball bearings. If it was soft snow, I probably would have been fine-- it's never too steep where I had to kick in the climbing wires.

so the ez-skin was doing exactly what it's supposed to do. it's the way of the future for sure, for light telemark stuff a half-skin is useful and so easy to carry.
