Sometimes, scales are good... specially at the end of the season, where you would find north exposed mountain side after a south exposed... Man, with klister, that's a pain.

I took the Rossi for a ride today in a nice corn snow condition and... it was good. These things can even turn! Not as easy as the Glitt though...
Just back from several weeks in Norway/Sweden/Finland in the wilderness cabins I ran into about a dozen other skiers (mostly had cabins to ourselves), all locals except for a retired British alpine guide. Every single person had skis with scales. For longer tours in arctic weather waxing is a pain in the ass, uncomfortable, and perhaps dangerous. I carry two waxes- glide wax and skin wax.
