Re: Open turns in Barnett's Cross-Country Downhill?
The Pedal hop turn was practised by Vallecant and Baud both skiers of Extreme steeps.
On extreme steeps your downhill ski is down below on a very extended leg whilst your uphil ski is way up with an almost 90degree thigh making it almost impossible to do normal wind shield wiper hop turns.
In the pedal hop your push of the top ski whilst feeing your downhill ski to scissor it 180 degrees and then following it with the uphill ski which becomes the downhill.
Its a sequential turn a bit like a kickturn, stepturn and scissor turn but used exclusively on extreme steeps.
Called the pedal hop because its intiated with a pedalling motion.
Try it on side hills where there is no consequence if you stuff it up.
Heaps of fun

That is very cool. Thank you for posting that article @DropKneeDiehard. How well do pedal hop turns work with a free heel?
