Went for a reconnaissance ski with my bff in the Eastern Rockies near Canmore a while ago. We've had an incredible amount of snow this year so this is pretty much the best coverage this slope ever gets. Spent a few hours romping up towards a ridge only to run into rocks a few hundred metres from the top where the snow got windswept. Most of the skiing was too thick to have much fun. The best areas were all actually within 30 minutes of the parking lot - and they were good enough that I'd go back another time the snow is this good.
I think the last good dump of the winter season just occurred near Bend, Oregon. I was planning to go to the Cinder Cone, but all the roads are blocked off because Mt. Bachelor closed down because of the Covid-19. That squeezed all skiers who wanted uphill travel onto just one mountain: Tumalo.
However, despite the parking challenge, it was the best skiing I had all season on that mountain. I used my Rossi Soul 7 skis which were a perfect fit for the conditions.
