Gosh MSU, if you've got family up here you should come up for some skiing. March is a great time.
I do plan to head up. I'm still tethered to the U of U health care system for now (mostly out of caution, as I think I'm pretty much stabilized). I'm hoping by about June or so, I'll be able to head up. If I were to come up to ski, I'd PM you. I'm good for a few laughs on light gear!

First post! Been reading a lot though...
A few pics from the trip last week that got a bit more challenging than expected. We had to cut it half due to the weather and nightmarish snow conditions. Location: Jämtland, Sweden.

Wow. I had no idea such terrain and snow existed in Oz! Time for a name change to Ahhhs!
Nice journey!

Yes in the SouthEast corner of Australia we have a large area of snow across the great dividing range that generally is from late June to Early October.
So opposite of the northern hemisphere.
The beauty of our mountains is you can access every peak by foot or skis without needing ropes etc.
They are ancient mountains well rounded down with generally convex slopes.
Our snowline is about 6,000 to 7,000 feet and are vegetated with Eucalypts ( snow gums).
Our snow is similar to Tahoes without the depth.
Powder during blizzards, crud and crust and great corn in the spring.
Freeheel skiing is big in Oz and we get instructors working our winters from Europe and the Americas.
I used to do back to back winters in Oz and then Tahoe.
