Excursion shell: what you need to know

Post by Rodbelan » Sat Apr 04, 2020 10:09 am

There is something people should know about Excursion boots, specially if you wear 25 MP... In order to save money, Garmont skipped on size shell... So they were using the 26—26,5 shell for their 25—25,5 boots. In other words, there is one shell for 25—25,5 & 26—26,5 boots. Results? In the 25 boots, the liner slides inside the shell. I realized it by buying many sizes from 24,5 to 26 MP (5 pairs I bought). The 24,5 is unbearable, really tight and the 25 is too loose—I mean the liner is Okay but the shell is too loose. Do not tell me to try this and that; I already did (24,5 with other liner, etc). The best way to cope with it is to use MAN model (not the same) with ratchet, size 26; with that one, you can do something... the ratchet help a lot. And then you can pair that one with a higher volume liner... This is a little secret not much people know... I mean If you have longer foot, you probably do not care...

Here it is.

The first 2 ones are Man shell. One is ratchet type (best and oldest). The other one (the latest one) has different buckles

The other shell is the WOMAN/JUNIOR shell. Cheaper conception. A tad narrower too.

The MAN shell goes up from 26 MP. The other one, up to 26—(26,5?).

Like I said, if you wear 25, choose a 26 MAN shell (ratchet if possible), and change the liner...

Thanks for this, Excursions have always been too wide for me. I didn't know the women's was a different shell.
