Åsnes Nansen & Cecilie Skog binding placement?
Well I now own a pair of Cecile Skog skis... I'm going to be slapping a pair of Super Telemarks on these babies.
I do not have the magical powers that others do on this site so I would like to find a recommendation for binding placement on the Nansen/Cecilie Skog.
I seem to remember that UTEMAGASINET.no recommend a particular binding placement with the Nansen/Cecilie Skog.
Anybody remember where it is or have access to the now paying page to translate the info myself?
Any recommendations?
Thanks!

Hey man,
You're right- there was some strange advice in the UTE review- or at least they found the wax pocket further back then balance point- or something like that...
Have you contacted Asnes and asked them?

Cross-country AND down-hill skiing in the backcountry.
Unashamed to be a "cross-country type" and love skiing down-hill.

No because I presumed they would just give me the standard general response for all their fjallskis. I should give it a try.lilcliffy wrote: Have you contacted Asnes and asked them?

Just curious what boot you plan on matching to these skis with 3-pins? I was confused where to mount my FT 62 skis, Asnes recommended BP. BP turned out to work really well.
Good Luck

Yes, I was assuming Asnes will just recommend BP on most all their skis.fisheater wrote:Just curious what boot you plan on matching to these skis with 3-pins? I was confused where to mount my FT 62 skis, Asnes recommended BP. BP turned out to work really well.

I've several boots so the boot match will depend on the outing. Surely the Alfas (Advance) for flatter terrain or hut to hut touring. Then i've got some stiffer karhus, then single buckle leather alicos.

Re: Åsnes Nansen & Cecilie Skog binding placement?
I don't recall where I mounted mine, (probably BP) but I do remember after skiing them for a while that I wanted to moved them back a bit... Like 2-3cm... But it was probably just the fact that they felt a bit too short for me and my size 44 boots...
Hey, since your Skogs are already drilled, why don't you start mounting with these holes and experiement from there before redrilling them? I know with STs it should place you fore a bit, but who knows, it might work for your body and shoe size...
The Cecilie BC is just THE most beautiful ski on the planet. Without a doubt one of the most beautiful in the whole ski history.

Re: Åsnes Nansen & Cecilie Skog binding placement?
What's the camber/flex like on this ski? It is the Nansen right?
Isn't it another ski that Asnees describes as having a "moderate wax pocket"?
https://www.en.asnes.com/produkt/cecilie-bc/
Has the Nansen/Cecile been redesigned since Gamme the Elder's UTE test/review? Sucky that we can't read it anymore!
From what I remember from Gamme's review- he particularly praised the downhill performance of the Nansen- describing it as having a smooth flex- easy to turn- and suggested the Nansen was so much fun downhill that he questioned the modern need of fat skis in the absence of deep powder snow...Though he also did describe a "wax pocket" of sorts- so I don't know what to make of that. Regardless he described the old Ingstad/Combat Nato as having a more traditional XC flex/camber- and praised the Ingstad/Combat Nato for its deep snow trail-breaking and stability...That's what I remember anyway!
Some of the reports on this site suggest the Nansen is much softer and rounder than the Combat Nato/Ingstad- and, that it suffers from the classic "pool-cover syndrome" in deep soft snow when XC skiing. I think it was "Pete the Swede"'s report- if I remember correctly- in fact he bought a Gamme 54 and said that it was more stable than the Nansen!
I do look at the Asnes website every year- and I seem to recall noticing the Nansen being labeled "new" when it had "BC" added to the name- I don't know if that was a redesign or just a name change...
What skiing conditions are you going to use the Cecile for?

I will be greatly interested in what you think of the Cecile/Nansen. I almost bought a Nansen BC, but decided on the Ingstad instead!

"We recommend to mount them on the 3-pin line on the balance point." is the official answer. I'm still wishing for the alternative UTE advice!lilcliffy wrote: Have you contacted Asnes and asked them?
