Some guy send me a pair of those Rottefella Super Tele. And he was using them with Straps, to keep its boots tightly fit in the binding. I didn't know about the functionality of those slots on each side of the binding. Anyone knew? Here is a picture:

I'm assuming he did this to increase the binding activity in downhill skiing. Loosen it for the up and along, cinch it for the down. I look forward to your feedback Rod on how it works :) .

Yeah... And if you try it, you'll see: big difference (in the workshop vise, not on the slope). My question is: were they designed that way? It is the first time I see someone using those slots...

This is really interesting... does the strap go over the top of the bellows or is it long enough to send back around the heel? I imagine a low stretch strap is paramount. I am intrigued.

It goes around the front of the boot to keep it snug into the binding... Can't wait to try this!

My first ski bindings had a similar strap as a method of keeping the toe in with cables but without the 3pins. I'm curious why the ability to secure the toe with a strap is still there.

I thought those slots were there to be able to use the binding in the event that the bail broke, but I can see that it could enhance performance too. I've never seen anything about using them improving performance though. I think it is a less active binding than the Voile Mountaineer, so it could use a little help.

Way back used leather straps to hold the boot in the ski with cables for Alpine....Beartraps!.....Rottafella had a version of that.....412?.....Except for hitting debris in the bush worked well....TM
