NNN-BC toe bumper stiffness

Post by Woodserson » Thu Nov 16, 2017 8:10 am

I remember way back when one could get different stiffness toe-bumpers. Do they still do this, especially for the NNN-BC? Or is what you buy stock what you get now?

Of course they are still available... And guys, this is honestly XCD's best kept secret. Shhht! Don't tell anyone, but it can turn any NNN binding into a NTN-like one...

The hard ones are either white or red... I have them on three of my DH oriented XCD skis: S98s, Objectives (my non-BC ones) and my Asnes Woodies... If you have a stiff boot like the Alaska BC, touring is almost impossible with the hard flexors...

I seem to remember being told I was full of BS for suggesting that the flexor influenced the "activeness" of the binding...

Who ever said that?
Only Ron Cole would suggest something like that...

But honestly, except for a few freaks like us, I really wonder why they ever produced the white BC flexors... I wonder what was Rotte original idea behind that...

It was probably the same people who would infer that a cable binding is a less pure form of XCD than a three pin binding.

The only thinger about a binding is if you like them and are they lite?.....For me.....ease of getting them on and can they take a wetting at twenty below?.....Simplicity is a must and no need of mechanical disasters in the bush...TM

Just received an email response from Rottefella on this:
Hi Gareth,
We have black flexor which is standard, and red flexor for ice-skating. You can order through our distributor: info@alpinasports.com.

Mvh/Best regards

Twould appear that Rottefella's intent for the stiffer more active red flexor is for Nordic skating...

You should ask them about the leash attachment plate as well.

Yeah, the red NNN ones are obviously for skating... But for NNN-BC...? Why would anyone want a stiff flexor except for downhill purposes? Nobody is using NNNBC for downhill... Nobody is making turns on NNNBC...! 8-)
