Re: Summer's here
All of that plus tele boots and skis for spring descents!
We had 11" of snow a couple days back, above about 9500', and good spring conditions otherwise.
Sometimes when I'm spring hiking, not skiing, I'll carry smaller racing snowshoes, with easy-on-and-off bindings, for trails that soften up in the afternoon, so I'm not postholing so much. It's awful to hike in on nice firm snow and then start plunging up to knees and hips on the way back to the trailhead later in the day.

Re: Summer's here
There’s something strangely appealing about the bindings of the Finnish skis (see post by @Theme). A nice welted boot and universal bindings would make hiking-snowshoeing-skiing pretty sweet.
Seems like a backwards move from step in ski bindings but can’t deny the flexibility of that system… if true mobility is the goal.

I'm heading to Moab next Sunday to be bullied and brutalized on my mountain bike by my 30 year old son. Can't wait!

trail racing season started 6 weeks ago. this coming weekend its the Baldy Blitz in Bozeman: 4400 ft ascent in 4 miles, then run back down. Beta says the top 2 miles is snow covered...

Mostly logging boots for now, a lot to process. Not as enjoyable as the hiking boots and leisurely strolls, but not a bad workout carrying maple logs back to camp over my shoulder and splitting a few full cords with a maul.

Yeah mostly work boots and Dunlops around here in Alberta, not a lot of time for trails but trails are shaping up nice with a very dry season. Unfortunately wildfires are here already, need some rain asap and then busting out the arctic mucks for a bit

Yes, “summer”
(actually it was kinda stressful to hit the corn window, there hasn’t been any good overnight freezing for a while)
(I’ll take the demerit for non-tele content… mountaineering sucks on tele gear)
