Re: Broken ski :(
Here is a cross section through the Åsnes Otto Sverdrup. And yes the front binding screws touch the "air channels", although they are less deeply carved in where the front of the binding mounts.
I guess this makes it extra critical to plug unused screw holes properly, humidity could have seeped past my pu glue along the length of the channel.
I haven't been able to ski since Easter. My season seems mostly over anyways to be honest, although it is sleeting here at sea level today, suggesting that inland at altitude conditions are getting refreshed.
Ill look if anything new comes on the market but the Sverdrup did an excellent job until the breakage, which does have a reasonable explanation. So I may get a new pair of the same again.

Interesting… thanks for posting.
Polyurethane glue makes sense given where the air gaps are located... foam expands, fills gaps for an inch or two… adds a bit more strength to hold binding screws. Keeps water out. Wood glue of epoxy wouldn’t do that… expand.

I don't work for them, but Neptune has Sverdrups on sale right now.Roelant wrote: ↑Sun Apr 23, 2023 10:53 amHere is a cross section through the Åsnes Otto Sverdrup. Re: Broken ski :(
OK so I bought myself a bunch of 210 cm Ouslands mounted with Xplore on the spring sale.
Reason:
- Åsnes Otto Sverdrup kicks ass in mixed, steep terrain, but broke (allegedly due to improper plugging of holes when i remounted Xplore- seems plausible though like anyone I dislike blaming myself).
- Åsnes FT62 Xplore kicks ass in mixed, steep terrain
- I wanted something more distance oriented, good for hauling my pulk, which does not have so much overlap in use with the FT62 Xplore. Gamme and Amundsen were contenders but, I dislike the Gamme top sheet.
Something more forgiving in descents, and turny than the Amundsen is nice.
Will probably have to wait until next winter to report on how the skis work.
And yeah I changed my name here.
