can you mount tele bindings on a free-gliding full-flex race plate?
can you mount tele bindings on a free-gliding full-flex race plate?
Specifically the free-gliding full-flex race plate that came stock on some older Atomic race skis? Alpine bindings screw into the front and rear of the race plate but is the middle section solid enough to screw a tele binding to? Since is free gliding and full flex, it may not be attached to the ski in that center section. Cannot do an in person inspection.
thanks.
thanks.

I can't speak specifically to those race plate models, but as a ski tech for many years, I did find Atomics had pullouts more than any other ski. That "densolite" foam core was comparable to whipped cream. In fairness, I'm sure some of their models had more substantial screw retention. From what you're describing, I'd be very wary of mounting those race skis as described. I do remember some of them were not adaptable to tele bindings due to the channel-like things they incorporated in their construction.
This is not to bash Atomics, I've skied some myself with no issues, and certainly they make some fine skis.

Yeah that channel like construction is what I worry is under the race plate so my chance to mount them is either on the plate or no go. The plate is clearly good to go for mounting front and rear where alpine bindings go--there are screw holes there from a previous mount so it's made for holding screws. The plate looks solid in the middle too, just like at the ends, but I can't get a close look yet.
The TM versions of these skis had a binding mount plate above the channels/tubes and I've mounted TM Beta skis multiple times with no pullouts or trouble. I know what you mean about the densolite. The only pullout I've have is from a Volant--those are finicky mounts too.
Last year I mounted a 8.20 alpine Beta ski after removing the stock Atomic binding and it had a good flat area below the alpine binding that accepted all 11 quiver killer inserts for NTN Freedoms and has taken abuse with no problems. So some of the alpine Betas have reinforcement above the tubes. Just have my doubts about this one with a stock race plate.
