Objectives: tech mounting question
For those who've mounted their own... what's the binding retention area like? Seems as though it may be a little fragile if it's just carbon fiber over light wood core. How'd it go for you (and with what binding)?

Re: Objectives: tech mounting question
Phoenix, there is a polyamide topsheet, two carbon fiberglass layers and a wood core. I would think it is at least as stout as my S-112's. I ski the 112's with plastic and leather, with and without hardwires. LJ skis his Objectives with NNN gear. I wouldn't know if they have more screws than my Voile bindings or not.
I am not easy on skis, but have never ripped any bindings out.
BIG NEWS,
I double checked the construction on the Voile website. I have been looking at their skis for a bit. Vectors, V-6, Objectives, just about everything except for Superchargers are on sale for 20% off. Direct from the good folks in Salt Lake City.

I agree with Fisheater. No problems with Voile skis and their Aspen cores.

Hey P,
The ski is not fragile at all, unlike other rando racing skis... The mounting area is rock solid, I wouldn't be afraid to drive the ski with whatever binding/boot combination...
Fisheater is right, the Objective and the Objective BC are on sale right now @ Voile!

Re: Objectives: tech mounting question
Voile has a very low inventory of Objectives... In fact they only have a very few pairs left in stock...
Grab them while you can...!

Re: Objectives: tech mounting question
Thanks for the heads up Johnny, prompted me to pull the trigger on the last pair of 164 BC's from Backcountry. More than I've ever spent on a pair of skis in my life, even on sale... but sounds like they'll be worth it, and probably last me the rest of my skiing life.
