Newbie Question: Boots for BD Havoc

Just got some BD Havocs off eBay. What boots will be suitable?

Current set up is T2s with some older Karhu Special Ks.

Midwest resort skier. Intermediate skills.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

Which Binding? 75, NTN or TTS?

Let's not be too theoretical about boots: TRY THEM. Any 3 or 4 buckles boots will fit the bill... but will they fit your feet? That's the (most important) question...

maybe bump it up to a t1 (or any 4buckle), for some extra cuff to driveh. those are some pretty stout skis if in remember cprrectly.

you could probably get away with skiing em on t2s, maybe with a stiffer liner though so you don't feel under-booted

The old Havoc are 88mm under foot (there might be a more recent mouture that I do not know of)... so not that fat. A 3 buckles T2 would be fine... Synergy, Seeker, they would all be fine... T1 also. If we are talking 75mm...

I have to agree with previous posters - go with the boot that fits you best.

That said, I'm still running an old pair of havocs (2009 model - 88 underfoot, no rocker) with 01 bindings and Scarpa T2s. I did add a power-strap to the top of my T2s, but haven't ever felt that I needed more than 3 buckles and a cam. These are still my go-to skis for steep, tight terrain or lazy days at the resort when the skiing sucks and I know I'll want to go switch to make it more interesting. I don't think a 4-buckle boot would be too much, but you certainly don't need the extra expense or weight to take adavantage of what these skis have to offer.

I learned to telemark on BD Havocs with Garmont Energys - 4 buckle boot. They were the rental rig at the REI store in MN, so midwest /UP resort skiing. It's a good set-up.

T2s will, depending on your style/preference, should drive just about any ski you want. I find it more important to match the stiffness of your boot to the resistance of your binding. Stiffer springs in the binding, stiffer boot. Softer binding, softer boot. Helps keep the boot flexing where it is supposed to.
