Re: Which binding for a slalom ski?

I would go with the Vice for a couple of reasons. First, it is a better and more durable binding than the Chili (which was a good binding in its day, but it did have a history of snapped cables and cracked toeplates); and, second, the Vice has three positions of "activity" level, which are easily ch...

Re: Pictures, pictures and pictures!

Nice, Tom!

We also got new snow, from Monday night into Tuesday, with temps staying in the 20s during the storm. The skiing was sublime on Tuesday, but still good Wednesday morning. Here's a photo from Wednesday:

Re: Thinking about new boots, 75mm vs NTN, from my perspective.

Telecat, given your situation, I would continue to look for 75mm boots, whether new (and on sale) or used. I ski both 75mm and NTN, and I actually still prefer 75mm for downhill (with a binding like the Hammerhead/Axl), for all the reasons that you mention. However, even though you seem to be satisf...

Re: Quarantine Musings - What's Voile's Next Move?

Dostie posted another video (below) where he answered some questions from the previous video. https://youtu.be/yHGxU_Ks4bY Unfortunately, you do have to remove the entire base plate (9 screws per binding if you use the middle two mounting screws, 4 screws per binding if you do not) to change the act...

Re: How to tele: 3-pin only

I have a pair of Madshus Epochs, which I love, but I'm planning on getting the Annums next fall, to be paired with plastic boots. The intention is to go touring for turns, with more emphasis on the turning part.My particular lightweight tele setup is Scarpa F1's (with bellows) coupled with TTS bind...

Re: Quarantine Musings - What's Voile's Next Move?

I'm hopeful that the cable attachment will be similar to the Moonlight Pure Tele binding, where the cables have hooks that go in the holes and you can remove the cables easily for the uphill or to change activity level.

Re: Quarantine Musings - What's Voile's Next Move?

I am hoping the position of the hinge is on par with the activity level of the X2, it looks like it's not adjustable fore-aft for activity preference so we're stuck with what we get. It looks like there are two positions for activity: Neutral and Active. And there are two hardwire spring choices: T...

Re: Quarantine Musings - What's Voile's Next Move?

You make some good points, but apparently Voile is coming out with a TTS binding -- see this recent thread: http://telemarktalk.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=3057 And their hyper construction skis that say not to mount tele bindings originally came out with no restrictions -- it was only after some tele b...
