Re: What alpine skis are people using for telemark?

Some ultralight touring and racing skis will be difficult to mount a telemark binding safely on, but apart from that any alpine ski will work. And I do agree that it might be a good idea to get a new binding also, after 10 years things start to break, and spares for those bindings I think are scarce...

Re: Trailhead Time Saver Idea (you heard it here first)

I always drive with my T4s, been doing it for almost 20 years, never any problem - not even with small tight pedaled italian cars. Never tested with my backpack on, might test that.

Re: Telemark Skimo racing (was: 3-pin Racing)

Back from my second session with the AT race rig, I did laps in the nearby small, rather low-angled, red piste where I usually test gear and make some quick laps. The odd thing is that I am slower with the AT gear than I am with 3-pins/T4s. I did an avarage of 6 minutes and 54 seconds per lap this n...

Re: Telemark Skimo racing (was: 3-pin Racing)

Did some laps (9) this evening with the remounted Race skis with ATK Trofeo race bindings and my F1’s. Although the overall feel of the free pivot and lighter boots and bindings was pleasant - the difference in speed was rather marginal compared to the same skis/skins with 3-pins and T4’s. I did, ho...

Re: Telemark Skimo racing (was: 3-pin Racing)

BCAEB863-CE5B-4F3B-8B42-5F501E2FA796.jpeg Finished the remount of my race skis this evening, and yes, I am going over to the dark side for the next race. I am considering to Race with TeleTech the next season if I can get decently fast transitions, so I am doing this to gain some experience of 2-pi...

Re: Interview with a monster (external article)

Thanks for the link, really nice to see a fast traverser going Telemark. The crevasse self-rescue does make sense for a solo tour, if you are alone and go down in a crevasse - you are more or less fucked without climbing gear - the chance of anyone finding you down in the hole are almost non-existan...

Re: 3-pin Racing

The 2 hour race went fairly well, the track was different this year, slightly higher, but still very steep and icy, and no switchback in the steep section. This year I also brought a pair of nylon skins - which I used in the race. I got better flow with nylon skins in the steep section, but I was sl...
