Re: Cobbled down my Garmont Excursions

I`m probably done playing around with the excursions. Despite all the mods it it is still such a stiff, heavy boot compared to what could be. I find it frustrating that there is such a void between them and the beefiest NNN-BC boots or the fabric/leather 75mm boots. What i want lies midway and does ...

Re: Cobbled down my Garmont Excursions

Did similar cuff reduction on my Excursions; also cut down the tongue and shaved excess plastic anywhere I could, looking for weight savings. Then started skiing them without the tongues, which was the biggest weight reduction. Tried a couple different kinds of tape as tongue replacements to keep sn...

Thank you Crister for all your information. What you you say is the closest thing in the Asnes lineup to a waxless Falketind?

Grand Canyon North Rim

Has anyone on here skied out to theNorth Rim of the Grand Canyon? Getting a hankering to do it and would like to hear from anyone who has done it. I know the basics - how far, etc. And I`m getting an idea on timing, seems like in an average snow year I could go as late as mid to late March. But woul...

Re: Alpina vs Scarpa boot size

Cant help on the alaskas; but as far as scarpa to garmont, i have 29.5 excursions that fit me and my friend's T3 in size 30 are just bit big so i think they run about the same.

Re: skis for making miles

Indeed, and this is where i wonder just where and how to apply the appropriate pinch of salt to all of this good advice, as High Sierra spring and northeast spring (or winter) must be quite different things but i have no experience in your neck...

Pack 35 lbs or less
No pulk - though I might try that someday on flatter tours
