Re: When should I consider stripping my kick wax and starting fresh again?
Thanks. So at the end of season I should clean the base and then wax with what for storage? It's only been a month on wax but going with wax has totally changed my appreciation for this activity. You have a couple options, depending on how you end up setting your skis up. 1. If at the end of the se...

Re: Alfa boot fit and X-Skins
Hello guays, 1. I own a pair of Alfa Vista Advanced in size 43 they are pretty roomy, if I tied them hardly I get pinch on my ankle if I loose them my heel is moving a little bit. My question is how this boots should fit, does your heel slightly move or they should be locked? 2. Asnes Race x-skins,...

Re: Considering the Gamme
How do you find the very hard glife wax (e.g. CH4) works when the snow warms up? Even in the heart of my winter- with months of -20 to -30C weather- we get regular warm ups (which seems to be increasing in its frequency and extremity) I have personally found that very hard glide wax does not work i...

Re: Considering the Gamme
Lilcliffy writes in his kick wax tutorial in the Telewiki section that use of polar was traditional method in Quebec. I haven't glide waxed in almost 20 years. Polar is my glide wax. It's what we did with wooden skis, that's where I got it. I think I'm the first one to promote it here, and people w...

Re: DIY work bench
I've always told people that an assortment of sledge hammers and several mammal paws are the critical components of a well rounded ski tech's kit.

This confirms two things that I've said on here. One was yesterday, to paraphrase, "good kick trumps good glide" as far as efficiency goes.
The second was about 15 years ago. "If you want to be a better skier, wear your wife's skis"

Re: Redearth Creek to Shadow Lake
Thanks Al and KDog! Definitely nothing wrong with a soak and an apres ski in Radium KDog, that's a beauty valley to spend time in! I think my day may have ended something like that had I been skiing with my wife - but she's pregnant with number 2 and sticking to mellower skiing this winter. This spr...

Re: Considering the Gamme
OP is right in the middle of the weight category for 190 cm, and at the edge for 200 cm. But with the original question being framed as 200 cm vs 210 cm, I still recommend the shorter of the two (200 cm). It's not a ski I would recommend anyone "go short" on by any means, that's not the design inten...

Re: Considering the Gamme
If I prioritize speed, should I get the 200 or 210 cm? Asnes chart suggests the 200, but it seems most tend to size up from the chart. Never skied the T78, so can't offer up anything on the overlap. But I would definitely recommend sticking to Asnes recommended length on these skis. They're stiff e...
