Even narrower than both of those actually! More like the E89...MikeK wrote:XCD-GT to Eon. Tons of variations too. I think the oldest ones were more like a Glittertind or old E99.

Re: Fischer E-109 vs. Asnes Ingstad
I think perhaps you misunderstand Cannatonic. The current E-Series are much more of a XC-ski (i.e. K&G) than the previous generation. Fischer has made a move to separate the E-Series (backcountry-xcountry) from the S-Bounds (XCD). If you like the previous E-109 for long-distance cruising- I would e...

Re: Fischer Profoil
interesting. I was wondering if the Asnes clips would stay attached…they don't lock into place. And there's still a metal clip facing the oncoming snow like the BD kickers that suck. The Fischer system would seem to solve the metal-tab-under-the-ski issue. But now there's a hole cut across the ski,...

Re: Fischer Profoil
I could see that because there is no metal or plastic piece on the bottom of the ski for the Fischer system. Well, that's what they are saying. I assumed the Asnes were burlier, so better. But it is true that on snowpacked scandi snow, even the nearly imbedded metal plate could be felt (much much l...

Re: Old S Bound series
I've also read the 10th Mtn used to be stiffer and more cambered than it is now. There are SOOO many version of the 10th Mtn out there. Mine are 84-68-74 and relatively stiff, some older ones are even narrower. They were based or were an Army ski at one time I think. They went up to 98mm at the tip...

Re: Old S Bound series
Could the Boundless have been softer than the 10th Mountain? I'm guessing they were as that was the most obvious ski to compare with at the time...

Re: Old S Bound series
I've read a lot of complaints about the older versions. Mostly due to the scales, but also the funky sidecut/camber combinations. I've read the Boundless was really soft, alpine style camber....

Re: Fischer Profoil
Indeed concerning the Asnes/Fisher ordeal. Asnes is now owned by a big company and has the $$$ and manpower to go against Fisher. Interesting, in the comments below, Norwegians are discussing how they consider the easy-skin an improvement over the Asnes version. http://www.tu.no/artikler/patentstrid...

Re: Fischer Profoil
Well, someone has bothered to review the profoil rather comprehensively:

Sounds like i'd better stick with my goats.
