Re: NNNBC boot for wide feet

My wife reported that Fischer boots are wider in the toe box than the Rossignol boots. She was comparing 75mm boots (Fischer BC675 vs Rossi BCX12) but I'm guessing their NNNBC boots use similar toe boxes.

Re: tuning?

You're right it's mostly about alpine and mostly about edge sharpness. And mostly for typical resort hard snow conditions. In such conditions a lot of skier complaints (and falling down) might be the result of 1) skiing around on dull edges, or 2) problems from not "de-tuning" (i.e. dulling) the ste...

Re: Chord Center mounting- does it make any sense?

For me, the important thing to know about chord center is that it was the old alpine standard mount point back before ski manufacturers started to put boot center marks on skis (or when it was still rare). Back then, any ski mount required just one question: is it a nordic ski or an alpine ski? If t...

Re: Alpine Touring/Telemark skis- grip wax versus scales?

Assuming we're talking about single camber skis, I wonder how long kick wax lasts on a single camber ski? Where I am, I mostly use skins on single camber skis. I'm generally a fan of waxing and don't have any scales skis at all in the current family quiver(!). I used to wax BCX skis all the time (ba...

Re: the magic and power of grip wax

...The cost of waxing isn't all that high. Even with waxless skis I use a cork and a tube of polar or other glide wax, and a scraper is a good thing to have if you ever get your bases wet crossing a wet spot and then get into cold snow that will freeze to your bases. I think you can get by with as ...

Re: please recommend a good XCD boot that comes in low volume women's last

Good to know. I'll look for the Alpina BC 1575 in a woman's model. We have new snow and will be doing some BC touring using her newly stretched boots to see if it solves the problem. She's using these mainly on two skis where she may need the BCX12's stiff sole and good support. One is the Hok 125 w...

Re: Asnes Storetind- mounting

I have no idea how the Storetind will measure out. I can say that on the Falketind 62, I found balance point. I then measured chord center (the tail is heavily rockered) chord center came out on balance point of both skis, to the mm. I then turned the ski over, to see that also is the most narrow p...
