Re: For Woodserson because I can’t figure out how to put a picture in a PM!
Hi Woods, I've also got narrow heels, normally go for Rossignol track boots, and the Alfa Skarvet are working pretty well for me. If you get the new version with the external plastic heel cup (not the older Quest Advance) you can heat it gently and squeeze it in to give a tighter grip around the Ach...

Re: Any info on the Rossignol OT 65 Positrack
Not sure if you've already bought these but here's my input: I have a previous version of this exact ski - the white and orange (2018?) one in 185cm. If I had to sum them up, I would say they're "OK". I bought them for use in marked forest tracks with the option to go exploring a bit in softer snow....

That means you're doing it rightI know these numbers are laughable, but again, I loved it.
Also, I have serious beard envy from that photo!

Re: This would be a truly cool vacation...
A really good writeup of the Amundsen race here: https://altabackcountry.com/2019/10/21/2019-expedition-amundsen-recap-across-the-stormy-hardangervidda/ - these guys have done it twice and done well both times. The rest of their blog is great too, they certainly have the Åsnes fever! Definitely seem...

Red/silver here today too, the V45 violet wasn't getting the job done. Used it layered up over a white polar base as per Lilcliffy's guide™ and had a good day out! My friends were using klister and struggling, they haven't seen the light yet...

Re: The new Rottefella Back Country binding system
My uneducated guess is that it's a lever and cable connected to the toe piece? Either to lock it into the binding or release it (or both). Can't think why they would design it like that though, instead of having the mechanism at the front like the current system...

Re: The new Rottefella Back Country binding system
Looks interesting, hopefully it's backwards compatible with older skis rather than requiring a whole new setup. Will be a while before I need new boots anyway so I can wait to see if it takes off or fades away...

Re: Walking with NNN BC sole ?
Aside from the potential damage to the toe bar, I find walking a long way in NNN BC boots to be pretty tiring - the sole is stiff and has a very flat profile, which doesn't help with a natural rolling foot motion. Duckbill boots may be better in this regard as the sole is designed to have a natural ...

Re: kick wax for in-track skiing?
Same here, it works great and I'll gladly sacrifice a bit of top end speed if it means not slipping backwards on steeper climbs!

Re: October Powder
Very nice! Can't wait to start skiing soon, I got a pair of the Skarvet boots last season and they've been great so far. They look a lot more classy with red laces though...
