Re: 22 Designs Vice and Hammerhead Bindings hurting my knees
The shim under the toe is a good suggestion. You can also get a lower heel -- I'd confer with 22D, but I believe the Hammerheel is 30mm and the Vice is 27mm. Axl and Outlaw, on the other hand, go up to 32mm.

Re: 22 Designs Vice and Hammerhead Bindings hurting my knees
T2 Ecos are great, very comfortable, and more upright. You can find good deals on them. So I'm a little confused as to whether you've been using T1s, T2s, or both over the last 5-10 years. The move to the modern T1 or T Race (now discontinued) can be awkward b/c of the forward lean factor. That soun...

Re: 22 Designs Vice and Hammerhead Bindings hurting my knees
hmm, interesting. I'd be curious if you could try a binding like the Switchback or X2 and see if that solves the problem. Sounds like you have inserts in your skis, though the hole patterns wouldn't match the HH pattern. Or just go back to the Cobras?

If you are new to T1s, this it it. Try: put in walk mode, stand as upright as you can, switch to ski mode and see if they lock out in a more upright stance.connyro wrote:Also, are the T1s new too? It almost sounds like you don't like the position that your boots put you in.

Why is one beginning rant OK but a rant in response to the first one not OK?
Ski and enjoy, call it sport, call it turn, or debate the difference (and the latter, totally, is the TTips of yesteryear).

Re: Making telemark into something that it isn't. Rant.
hahaha. I tend to agree with Dorthman. Wooderson, I don't really get your gripe. Tele appeals to lots of folks and that's great. Beefier and stiffer allows different skiing, more aggressive for sure. Do you need that gear for that skiing? No, lots of old examples to show that. But, it's easier with ...

Re: Ski size
Are most people using the same size telemark ski for resort(lift) skiing as they would for Alpine skiing? I use short skis (160s) for alpine skiing because I picked them up cheap. I am 5'9" and use my 185 annums without a problem at resorts also. I am thinking of getting a heavier setup for resorts...

Re: TX Comp w/ Tech Toe
Yeah, it's possible the person did it himself. What Voile binding would be compatible with NTN boots? Are they expanding? That would be excellent too.

Where did you spot it?
The masses have been asking for this for some time, so that'd probably be very well received.

Re: To kicker skin or not to kicker skin that is the question?
For rolling hills, kicker skins give you traction on the ups and don't impede the down or flats as much as full length skins. If you're going all the way up and then all the way down, IMO, there's zero reason to use kicker skins. I would just consider them as a substitute for scales (perhaps better ...
