Re: correct stance

I tend to agree with LJ in the sense that any tip can cause you to excessively focus on something, and that particular tip is hard to translate from a mental image into practice. However, it's right. If you keep your rear foot under your ass, your ass will be sticking out. But, if the femur of your ...

Re: Boot size equivalence

If you're talking about shell sizing, Scarpa shells break on the half size, so a Scarpa 23.5 and 24.0 are the same. Garmont shells break on the whole size, so a 24 and 24.5 are the same. To your queation, a Garmont 23.5 would share the same shell as a Garmont 23 whereas a Scarpa 23.5 would share the...

Re: Most lightweight telemark boots 75mm

What about telemark on Scarpa F1? Is it ok boot for teleskiing? Flex is soft or hard? Who has experience with F1? I used the regular F1 with the TTS system (not the F1 Race or the F1 Carbon). Yes, it is fine for teleskiing. That being said, some notes: (1) The heel lever is big and clunky and preve...

Re: Most lightweight telemark boots 75mm

Off the top of my head: The lightest 75 mm boot is either the T4 or T2 Eco. The T4 doesn't ski nearly as well and is less comfortable, but yes, it's a few grams lighter. The lightest NTN boot is the Terminator X. The lightest boot that can be used with a tele system is the Scarpa F1 -- they no longe...

Re: Anyone ski on M-Equipment Bindings?

The VAT and I don't think I'd drop $55 on 30 inserts -- dubious that they're necessary, at least not for all the holes, and you can Binding Freedom inserts for about half that. So, ordering from outside the Euro zone (U.S., Iceland), it's 450 euros plus shipping.

Re: Anyone ski on M-Equipment Bindings?

I have not skied them, but they cost $515 at Telemark-Pyrenees (partially due to the euro-dollar exchange rate). Definitely on the high end of bindings, but many are between $400 and $450 these days.

Re: Bindingfreedom

OT: Can you remind me what I'm supposed to do with skis that show no suggested boot center line ? I have a pair of race skis sans stock plate; I have figured out where Center Running Surface (CRS) is on them, but I find myself sorta guessing on the NTN mount placement... I may just measure CRS to B...

Re: Bindingfreedom

So ideal sequence without a press might be: 1) Center punch using template (then check with actual binding or plate, using the measure twice rule). 2) Start hole with small bit, then drill finish hole for screw or insert (staying as plumb as possible) 3) Then start tap, clamp tap guide, and finish ...
